Trail Blazers Can't Shake Thunder, Lose 92-87

Portland drops to 1-3 in summer league

July 12, 2019 - 9:42 am

The Trail Blazers are hoping a loss is the only bad news to come from Thursday night. The Thunder beat Rip City 92-87, but the big news was on the injury front.

Anfernee Simons sat out with a right ankle sprain. Nassir Little attempted to shoulder the scoring load, but ended up suffering a right shoulder contusion early in the first quarter. He did not return.

Gary Trent Jr attempted to keep them in the game with 22 points and 8 rebounds, but Rip City could never recover after the first half.

Portland is now 1-3 in preliminary round play and will not qualify for tournament play. That means the Trail Blazers' 2018 summer league championship banner will hang alone.
